PRODUCTION

SuyayKeramik independently produces ceramic pieces using a variety of clays, including ongoing explorations of locally sourced natural clays. Every piece is made entirely by hand through traditional craft processes.

The natural colours and unique qualities of each clay are an essential part of the work. To highlight them, the surfaces are often burnished with stones or finished simply with transparent glazes, allowing the character of the material itself to remain visible.

Ceramics are approached as a durable and sustainable material, offering an alternative to materials such as plastic, aluminium and other industrial materials commonly found in everyday objects.

SuyayKeramik creates pieces with their own individual character, designed to be used and enjoyed in daily life. Each object combines function and aesthetics, responding to a particular purpose while becoming part of everyday rituals — celebrating meals, gatherings and small moments.

Alongside the functional collection, there is also space for sculptural work. One example is the “Doñas Floreras” series: sculptural vases inspired by female silhouettes, celebrating the different stages and transformations of the female body. The series reflects on beauty as something found in the diversity of bodies, in all their shapes, colours and expressions.

Pieces are available through private commissions as well as specialised markets in Zürich, including the Zürcher Keramikmarkt and the city’s Christmas markets.

COURSES

Courses are held at Zürcher Gemeinschaftszentren, Zürich’s community and cultural centres.

These four-hour intensive workshops explore different themes and approaches to ceramics through a range of techniques, with a particular focus on hand-building and modelling.

The courses offer participants the opportunity to work directly with clay, experiment with different processes and develop their own pieces in a creative and hands-on environment.
